IFCU COMMUNIQUÉ - A new strategic direction for the world's Catholic universities
"For a Federation with roots, solidarity and global reach"
The International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) opens a new stage in its history with the adoption of its Strategic Plan 2025-2028, presented by its President, Fr. Francisco Ramírez Yáñez (UNIVA, Mexico), at the first meeting of the new Board of Directors.
In a world riven by geopolitical crises, technological change and the quest for meaning, this plan sets out a clear vision: to serve, connect and transform.
More than ever, IFCU is at the service of its members, attentive to their local realities, and united around a common mission: to support integral formation, research for the common good and the global commitment of Catholic universities.
Three major axes guide this dynamic:
1️⃣ Strengthen the identity of Catholic universities, through an international Observatory and a FIUC Label promoting continuous improvement and dialogue between Church and university.
2️⃣ Developing integral training and research for the common good, thanks to the FIUC Global Campus, international networks of researchers and a young researchers program open to innovation and interdisciplinarity.
3️⃣ Promote global commitment, through scientific diplomacy and a culture of peace, through the Science and Peace Network, Catholic university cultural centers and the support program for universities at risk.
For President Ramírez Yáñez,
"IFCU is entering a phase of transformation. It wants to be a Federation rooted in its values, in solidarity with its members and global in its action: a space for discernment and innovation in the service of the common good. "
This plan, the fruit of collective listening and worldwide co-construction, is in line with FIUC's centenary and the new pontificate of Leo XIV, marked by renewed attention to the educational and cultural challenges of the contemporary world.
This Strategic Plan will be soon available and sent to IFCU affiliates.
