Honorary doctorate ceremony at the Université Catholique de Lille
On October 9, 2025, the Université Catholique de Lille held its first solemn academic year in the new Pierre-Henri Simon Amphitheatre, in the presence of Mgr Laurent Le Boulc'h, Archbishop of Lille.
Under the chairmanship of Patrick Scauflaire, Rector-President, four personalities received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa: Marie-Thérèse Mengué (UCAC, Cameroon), Father Salim Daccache, S.J. (Rector of Saint Joseph's University, Beirut), Ollivier Dyens (McGill University, Canada) and Father Pedro Rubens Ferreira Oliveira, S.J. (Rector of Unicap, Brazil and President of the International Federation of Catholic Universities from 2012 to 2018).
The award recognized their exceptional commitment to educational justice, peace, dialogue between knowledge and the social responsibility of universities.
The event illustrated the universal vocation of the Université Catholique de Lille: to foster dialogue between cultures and generations in the service of a common humanity.
