Education, responsibility, transformation

The Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) will host the III International Congress on Integral Education on December 9 and 10, 2025, under the theme Education, Responsibility, Transformation. The meeting will bring together international experts, professors and academic leaders from universities of the International Network of Universities (RIU) to reflect and share experiences on integral education in the university environment.

In order to facilitate the participation of the academic community, the deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended until October 30, 2025. Selected papers will be eligible for the publication of a chapter in a book edited by Octaedro, after review by the scientific committee.

A congress that addresses integral education in its entirety

The meeting is structured in different thematic blocks that cover the most relevant dimensions of integral education at the university:

• Humanities and culture, with presentations on the value of critical thinking, intellectual tradition and cultural dialogue.
• Accompaniment and affective maturity, as key elements for the personal and community development of students.
• Education in virtues and values, leadership and the common good, with proposals aimed at social transformation from the university environment.
• Service-learning and social responsibility, which are presented as impact methodologies to form committed citizens.
• Pastoral care and the Atrium of the Gentiles, based on openness to transcendence and faith-culture dialogue.
• Integral wellness and healthy lifestyle, understood as part of the university education that takes care of the person in all its dimensions.
• Good practices and innovative programs for students, where experiences and projects developed in RIU universities will be shared.

International reference speakers

Among the speakers are renowned figures of recognized prestige:

• Higinio Marín, rector of CEU Cardenal Herrera and professor of Philosophy, who will open the congress with the lecture El desvelamiento de lo humano del hombre.
• Nieves Tapia, founder and director of the Latin American Center for Solidarity Learning and Service (CLAYSS), who will present the lecture Solidarity Service Learning, a pedagogy for integral formation.
• Claudia Vanney, director of the Institute of Philosophy of Universidad Austral (Argentina), expert in intellectual virtues and human flourishing.

In addition, round tables will be held with the participation of Father Florencio Sánchez Soler, L.C.,chaplain of the UFV; Cristian Nazer Astorga, international head of Regnum Christi universities and former rector of the Universidad Finis Terrae in Chile; Ricardo Virués, vice rector of Integral Formation at the Universidad Anáhuac Querétaro (Mexico) and Rocío Solís Cobo, coordinator of the John Henry Newman Institute of the UFV, who will delve into the challenges of pastoral ministry, accompaniment and university leadership.
